Archery Club MMU Cyberjaya

Friendly Match with Malacca

DETAILS:

Date: 15 August 2010

Day: Saturday

Time: 8am-3pm

Venue: Multimedia University, Cyberjaya Campus

           9 members from Cyberjaya and 6 members from Malacca participated in the ‘Friendly Match’. Mr. Hamid, our coach was the referee for the match, and his 2 sons came to assist as well.

Our club representatives were:

Wong Yee Jun, Chan Wan Kah and Saw Xue Li [Women's category]

Tan Kang Zhe, Lim Chun Yeet, Thomas Hay Ching Hann, Tan Chun Meng, Norhelmi Bin Mohidin, Omar Arif Tan [Men's category]

          Mr. Hamid explained to the participants regarding the Individual Match and Olympics Match. In the Individual Match, participants were given 2 minutes for sighting purposes, and the match started with 10 ends continuously. Winners were determined by their individual scores and ranked accordingly. In the Olympics Match, participants were given 1 end for sighting purposes, and the match started with 4 ends continuously. Winners were determined by knockout stage, with the winners for each round advancing to the next round, from the quarter-finals to the semi-finals and to the final round.

For Individual Match (Men)

1st Place - Tan Kang Zhe

2nd Place - Daniel (from Malacca)

3rd Place - Lim Chun Yeet

4th Place - Thomas Hay Ching Hann

For Individual Match (Women)

1st Place - Regina (from Malacca)

2nd Place - Wong Yee Jun

3rd Place - Chan Wan Kah

4th Place - Saw Xue Li

For Olympics Match (Men)

1st Place       - Daniel (from Malacca)

2nd Place      - Tan Chun Meng

Semi-finalists - Thomas Hay Ching Hann

                     - Nang Ho Chin (from Malacca)

For Olympics Match (Women)

1st Place       - Regina (from Malacca)

2nd Place      - Wong Yee Jun

Semi-finalists - Chan Wan Kah

                     - Saw Xue Li

          The winners were awarded a certificate at the end of the day. Everyone shook hands with one another and had a group photo with our referee, Mr. Hamid.

          This friendly match was conducted in a different way, which is more towards the real Archery Tournaments and Competitions. This was indeed a great opportunity and experience for both participants from Cyberjaya and Malacca. Besides that, the competition between all participants was very tough indeed, where mostly, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and semi-finalists’ scores were separated by a 1 point difference only! Finally, this was indeed a pleasant and overwhelming outcome for Cyberjaya archers as their hard work in weekly practices and coaching sessions had paid off well! Last but not least, CONGRATULATIONS to all winners and participants!

Venue : MMU Cyberjaya Archery Field (Beside tennis court)

Feel free to join us . We will have wooden and recurve bows for the friendly match.
